On John 1:1 and the New World Translation

In the fall of 2001, I read a post on the Jehovah's Witness discussion board of the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry (CARM).  The poster asked for information about a scholar some Witnesses were citing in support of the New World Translation.  The scholar was Jason BeDuhn.  I had researched BeDuhn for an article I was writing, and posted a response on the CARM board.  To my surprise, Dr. BeDuhn responded personally to my post.  I replied, asking if he would be interested in discussing John 1:1 and the New World Translation in greater detail.  Dr. BeDuhn graciously agreed.  I found Dr. BeDuhn to be cordial, knowledgeable, and challenging.  On the whole, this is one of the most productive and informative theological dialogs I've ever engaged in; I hope others like it may follow.

Jason BeDuhn received his Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School.  He received a PhD from the University of Indiana in Comparative Religious Studies.  He believes the NWT and KIT to be generally accurate, and uses the latter when teaching Greek at Northern Arizona University.
